It’s important to add a website’s sitemap to google search console to help google search engine discover it and index its content. But sometimes we to remove a sitemap from Google Search Console for many reasons including when we do some major changes to a website.
Steps to remove a sitemap from google search console:
- Go to Google.com
- Log in to Google with your Google account information
- In the search box add Google Search Console
- In the search result select the first link Google Search Console tool
- Click Start
- Inside your search console account, select the website you are working from the list located in the top let corner. If you have only one website you skip this step
- Next you select sitemaps from the list located in the left side of your screen
- You will be directed to a page where all the sitemaps you submitted are located
- Select the sitemap you want to remove and click on it
- In the next page go to the top right corner and click on remove sitemap.
