It’s important to add a website’s sitemap to google search console to help google search engine discover it and index its content. But sometimes we to remove a sitemap from Google Search Console for many reasons including when we do some major changes to a website.

Steps to remove a sitemap from google search console:

  • Go to Google.com
  • Log in to Google with your Google account information
  • In the search box add Google Search Console
  • In the search result select the first link Google Search Console tool
  • Click Start
  • Inside your search console account, select the website you are working from the list located in the top let corner. If you have only one website you skip this step
  • Next you select sitemaps from the list located in the left side of your screen
  • You will be directed to a page where all the sitemaps you submitted are located
  • Select the sitemap you want to remove and click on it
  • In the next page go to the top right corner and click on remove sitemap.
